3 Must Have Jeans

Hello, beautiful! I hope this post sees you well. Not going to lie to you I am feeling real motivated this week, I have some awesomeness in the works for you & I cannot wait to spill the beans. Anyway today we are breaking down the 3 must have jeans for your wardrobe. Maybe all three styles won't work for your body but I guarantee one maybe even two will. (If the short curvy girl can pull off all 3 so can you)

The Skinny Jean

I don't care if the magazines are saying that skinny jean is going out or not. In fashion there are no rules & to me skinny jean is a necessity. To balance long flowing tops & tunics a slim pant is needed on the bottom.  These skinny beauties are great to tuck into boots.

The Bootcut

The bootcut/wide leg jeans are making a comeback baby. Personally, I totally dig them. These flared finds give shape to those with a more narrow rectangular body shape. The bootcut also plays up curves. Perfectly pair with pumps, heeled booties, & clogs.

The Boyfriend Jean

The boyfriend jean is a more relaxed fit than the skinny. Instead of the skinny slim fit the boyfriend is a straight leg allowing for more give. The boyfriend is a great option for those that aren't comfortable with the skinny jean. Dress down your boyfriend jeans with sneaks as pictured or dress them up with a fitted top & pumps!

You may have noticed that two out of three of my jeans are cuffed. I like to show a little ankle not to mention I am 5'2. Petite girls I suggest getting short or petite jeans when available. For my fash dolls that are vertically blessed look for long or tall jeans, they will have your additional length. Jeans come in different kinds of washes as well: white, light wash, dark wash, medium wash, the list goes on. I suggest dark was because the color typically lasts longer.

Well fash dolls that is all I got for you today. Want to see something specific? Feel free to reach out on social media >instagram & snapchat @fashology< >twitter @fashology101<.

The 70's Called

Hello lovelies, we made it to Friday! This week's look is brought to you by the funky vibes of the 70's. There are so many trends going on in this look so let's get started.

This look features a window pane blouse, faux suede fringe vest, trouser jeans, & clogs. Hi the 70's called & they hope you're enjoying this look. Window pane & fringe are still very prominent trends. This neutral colored vest gives this look some relief, not to mention suede & faux suede in many forms is huge right now for both fall & early spring. Although I am a sucker for a good skinny jean there has been a shift to bootcut & wide leg jeans, they are the best selling shapes in my catalog & have been seen everywhere. I topped this look of with clogs & a belt!

Now I felt a little daring to throw all these trends into one look but, you don't have to! Maybe you only pair a couple of these trends together. Like fringe & wide leg jeans or window pane & faux suede, the possibilities are endless. In fashion there used to be these unwritten rules like don't wear white after Labor Day. Well these unwritten rules are a thing of the past. As long as you love your look & can rock it confidently, go for it!

Well Fash dolls till next time.

Twirl into Fall

Hi fash dolls! I hope this week has been treating you well. I did treat myself to a pumpkin spice latte as the air has been cool & crisp. There is no denying that fall is in the air. I think that every gal needs a dress to twirl into the new season.

This dress I actually got for $3 at my office’s sample sale. Good news for you! There is a ton of trapeze style t-shirt dresses like this one out there now. They make the perfect transition piece. I am wearing mine right now with open toe booties & a fabulous fall hat. When the colder months roll in you can pair a dress like this with tights, tall boots, & a fur vest!

Not to mention this dress is super comfortable. Pick up a dress like this for yourself; it is the perfect fall/winter staple.

Well till next time dolls!

Stay Sassy + God Bless!

Breaking Up Doesn't Have to be Hard to do

Breaking up doesn't have to be hard to do, breaking up your sets that is! If you remember my post Set Yourself Apart  I had been sporting a lovely little eyelet trim skirt set number from the Loft. Sets are still a relevant trend but breaking them up & pairing them with other items in your wardrobe can give you more bang for your buck!
Pictured I took the tank from the set & combined it with my favorite pair of boyfriend jeans. Completing the look with a statement necklace, sandals, & a fun clutch!
I would wear the skirt that came with this tank with a basic tee or tank, a dresser statement necklace, & a pair of wedges.
If you have a set at home don't be afraid to break it up & wear the pieces with other garments for versatility. This can decrease your cost per wear. If you don't already own a set consider getting one for yourself. You can wear them together or separate! Whatever you do make sure it's you because you are beautiful.
Well dolls till next time!

Faux Leather in the Office

I am obsessing over faux leather. Skirts, dresses, pants, little accents, you name it. I wore a faux leather skirt for Thanksgiving and I am a true believer in wearing faux leather anywhere, even in the office.

This dress features a ponte knit top with a faux leather skirt. I paired this number with a white blazer, covered my legs with black tights, and completed the look with pearls and cheetah heels. This ensemble exudes femininity with an edge, it is classic yet chic. A great example on how to wear your faux leather in the office.

Faux leather can come off rather edgy and often thought as a fabrication for a night out. Well the perfect combination of accessories can transition your faux leather to the office. I challenge you to put your most fashionable foot forward next time you head into work. It is easy to get in the habit of forgetting style when dressing for work. Don't forget that dressing and fashion simply isn't just about garments and name brands, it is about expressing yourself and exuding confidence in who you are!

Till next time dolls! I hope the snow didn't hit you too hard.

Not Your Cheerleading Pom Pom

I was never a hat person prior to this season. The only time I would be caught dead in one was a baseball cap at the beach or at the gym. This season I decided to step outside my comfort zone and try a couple! I love the classic fedora from my post Baby It's Cold Outside but this pom pom beanie is so much fun. This beanie has easily become a winter weekend essential.

It's funny I got this hat on a whim. I ran into Target quick on my lunch break one day in December, I was on a mission. I needed gloves, a hat, and a flash light for a winter 5k I was running that night. I could have gotten a more basic beanie but what is the fun in that?

When I was packing to head to Portsmouth, NH this weekend with my mum for a little girls getaway this ensemble was a definite must. I'm smitten for the lace detail on this sweater and I these boots have become my favorite pair this season.

I encourage you to try something outside your comfort zone! It is easy to fall into the same items over and over again but be bold, be daring, and most importantly be-YOU-tiful.

Dress Crush

Apparently I was an exceptionally good girl this past year because Santa brought me this fabulous dress! I love this little number so much it maybe my new favorite. As a no pants advocate I truly believe that every gal should have a favorite dress, something easy to throw on and go.

I have paired this Michael Kors number with a faux fur vest and completed the look with these stacked heel boots. This print is very 60's mod inspired the faux fur adds a touch of glam. I also love the way this dress fits. It flatters my figure and that is the goal, to get something that flatters your beautiful and unique figure.

I challenge you to go out and find your go to dress, something that fits your personality and figure. When you are on the go you won't regret having your own throw and go dress.

Till next time dolls! Happy shopping.

How to Transition Your Summer Pieces to Winter

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas. I hope that Santa was good to you and that you enjoyed the time with your family. If you have been following the blog you might recognize this skirt and tank from the September 5th post, The Art of Dressing, A Balancing Act. Outfitted here is the same tank and skirt transitioned for winter.

When shopping I always find myself looking at a garment and imagining if I can transition it for another season to get more wear. There is now doubt that this tank and skirt are summer pieces. I have made it cold weather ready by adding tights paired with a faux leather moto jacket, finishing the look with combat boots and an infinity scarf. Look in your closet and take your favorite dress or skirt and apply this concept.

Maybe instead of a moto jacket you add a sweater or blazer. There is an infinite variety of tights available in different colors and textures to bring your warm weather favorites to winter. Boots in the winter are a no brainer. Give this a try for yourself!

Well dolls the next time you will hear from me we will be in 2016! (Unless you follow us on instagram @fashology101). I have a lot planned for the new year and I am so excited to go into the year with you, my beyond fabulous readers.  DSC_0969

How to Dress for a Formal Event

One of my best friends went to a military academy for her college years. During her time there she had met her now husband. At this academy they had many formal events one of which I had the pleasure of attending. Since I started blogging every time I would see them he would remind me that I should write a post on how to dress for a formal event. So here we go.

What is a "formal dress"?

A formal dress is typically an elegant floor length evening gown. This one pictured I have worn as a maid-of-honor  to a wedding and as a date to a formal dinner. This dress is classic making it a timeless piece.

DSC_0647-3How to choose the perfect formal gown for you?

As mentioned prior a formal dress is typically floor length. I have seen some stunning hi-lo hems but it is important to know your audience where you are attending this formal event. Next make sure that it flatters your figure! This is extremely important because you want to feel comfortable and not self conscious during the event. Also, make sure that you aren't too exposed. A good rule to stick to is to show off one part of your body. This dress is strapless so seeing my shoulders is definitely enough skin. Maybe you want to go with a dress with a deep v make sure your front is covered. You aren't going to club. Color wise I would always suggest black or jewel tones. Rich reds or deep blues would make for a lovely gown. Not barbie pink.

What about accessories?DSC_0627-2

Once you have your dress it is time to accessorize. Make sure you don't over do the jewels. I am wearing a chunky pearl necklace here and could add a subtle bracelet. I could put my hair up and wear chandler earrings in which case I wouldn't need the necklace. I would suggest bringing a shawl incase you get chilly. Always bring a clutch to carry your phone, money, keys, a lipstick, etc. Lastly the shoes, make sure that you wear a pair of shoes you can stand and dance in all night long. You should never take your shoes off at a formal occasion. At some weddings the couple will provide flip flops but if you are at a formal work event keep your dancing shoes on. I repeat keep your shoes on.

Well these are my suggested tips for dressing for a formal event. Where ever you go get yourself dolled up and have fun! The holiday season is always filled with fun events. I always enjoy getting all dressed up from time to time. My next formal event is Ricky & I's wedding!

I hope you all have a Merry Christmas! Or Happy Holidays whatever you celebrate enjoy this season with your loved ones.

It's the Holiday Season

It's the holiday season! Deck the halls, light the menorah however you celebrate do so in style.  This time of year can get extremely hectic with all the preparation and parties, this doesn't mean you need to compromise your sense of style.

This ensemble would be perfect for a holiday party. The faux leather skirt is paired with this animal print blouse. Tights and booties complete the outfit. The faux leather skirt brings an edge while the blouse balances it exuding a feminine look. This outfit is fashionable and festive.

Well dolls, I hope you have a Happy Holiday season. Consider stirring clear from the ugly sweaters and wear something that expresses who you are.

Happy Shopping!

Baby It's Cold Outside

With the abnormal and unpredictable weather of New England maybe it isn't so cold outside but, it is certainly coming. Last January a gal was laying out soaking up the Santa Monica sun just to take a red eye home to Boston. When arrived the stewardess relayed to the girl that her flight was the only flight to make it in. This female just came home to a killer snow storm.

That girl was me and there was no way this winter that I would risk surviving with a mere pea coat. I have been on a mission for a jacket like the one pictured, literally for two winter seasons. One day I found myself out shopping with my mother and sister. I had stumbled upon this DKNY gem at T.J. Maxx. All the coats like this  I had seen up untill this point were retailing between $300-$400. You bet your bottom dollar I got this beauty for $99.99. If you live in a cold weather climate a jacket is a necessity worth investing in. This would even make a great holiday gift for someone on your Christmas list this year!

Well dolls till next time, happy shopping!

Thankful for Sangria

I hope that everyone has enjoyed their Thanksgiving weekend with loved ones. Although I am thankful for many things everyday this time of year I find myself really reflecting on how truly blessed I am. Of course I am grateful for my family but nothing quite gets you thru the holidays like sangria, the color.

This color compliments nearly every skin tone and is festive. Here I have this sangria button up blouse styled with a faux fur vest and skinnies. You could give this color a shot in many ways. Try some sangria colored tights, handbag, dress, pants, etc. This color is rich and worth the a shot! Wear it to your next holiday party.

Well dolls till next time, happy shopping! Try not to stress during this time of year. It is suppose to be a time of joy so hold your loved ones close.

Give your Boyfriend's Closet a Try

If you are single, fear not! Sometimes taking a style note from the guys isn't a bad thing. The boyfriend trend has been around for some time. Now  I am not saying to go shopping in the men's department (but I am not going to stop you either). What is the boyfriend look? It is a bit more of a relaxed, looser, boxier fit.

Shown is a longer more boxier boyfriend blazer with a feminine twist which is the animal print roll cuff. The jeans are also a more relaxed boyfriend fit feminized with heels. The key to pulling off the "boyfriend" look is to always add a hint of feminism. I balanced this look with this awesome bow bag.

Boyfriend + Feminine Twist = One chic look

This is a really simple way to put together a chic outfit. Give it a try for yourself, you won't regret it! Happy Styling!

Bohemian Beauty

Looking for a new trend to try? The bohemian style is back in full swing. This whimsical and carefree look is 70's inspired and I am definitely crushing on it. Boho babes like Rachel Zoe, Nicole Richie, and the Olsen twins have perfected this Woodstock chic look. To exude a bohemian flair try wide leg pants, bell sleeves, or floppy hats. I would also suggest trying suede, fringe, neutral floral prints, and flared jeans.

This breezy peasant dress is boho chic paired with stacked heeled boots. Peasant style necklines and sleeves also radiate a bohemian style. This muted floral print allows me to channel my inner flower child.

Whether you dip your toe in this trend or all full steam ahead make sure that you are making smart purchases. Look for things in your budget and personal style. This trend is everywhere and as mentioned earlier there is a variety of ways to try it. Well dolls I hope you enjoyed this week's look as much as I did. Stay tuned for more fashion and fun.
