Sorry Lulu

Sorry (not sorry) Lulu, Lulu Lemon. Not that I am hating on Lulu Lemon I actually really like their product but dang those prices are killing a new homeowners budget! This active look is brought to you by T.J. Maxx!

If you have been following you know that I got married in June & bought a home at the beginning of the month. Needless to say I have been on a budget for sometime. I have staples which I have spent more money on. But when it comes to my activewear I tend to not spend as much. They get sweaty, go thru the wash all the time, and just get beat up. T.J. Maxx & Marshalls carries affordable activewear that fits in in my budget.

To get into shape for the wedding I really got into barre. It was easy on my back (I slipped a disc) & toned me up. I facilitated this with running & playing soccer!

I don't consider myself a health freak but I think it is important to exercise regularly & eat healthy (I try to stick to 80/20). I find that when I stick to this I feel more energized!

Well fash dolls till next time!

Stay Sassy + God Bless.

Fashology Favorite: Vela

dan and anaVela in Latin means sails of a ship. Voted South Shore Magazine's "Best Juice Bar 2015" and opening a second location in under a year of business, there is no denying the success Vela has experienced. Ana Dabrowski and Dan Anthony are co-founders and owners of Vela Juice Bar located in the heart of downtown Plymouth. They are known for their smoothies, juices, and snacks made of fresh fruits and vegetables, no added sugars. As a Vela customer myself I have enjoyed many smoothies and energy bites. For a wake me up I have had the wheatgrass shot. The most interesting item I have tried is their juice cleanse. You can do it for 1-6 days and at $55 per day you've got to try it. My cleanse was for one day, I hadn't been eating the cleanest and I wanted to cleanse my body. The next day I woke up less bloated and more energized. Juicing isn't a fad diet to get yourself into that summer bikini, it is something to try year round to feed your body with the nutrients it bites

Dan and Ana have been able to combine their love for sailing with healthy living. They had both been thinking about opening a juice bar separately. One day in June of 2014 the Plymouth natives had discovered that they had coincidently been eying the same space and dreaming of opening a juice bar. They opened their doors on December 29th, 2014 and just opened their second location at Live Life Believe (10 Cordage Park Cir #243) a local Plymouth gym. They had both been working in the cooperate world and left to pursue their dreams of promoting healthy living.

pumped upAna gives potential and current entrepreneurs some advice, "...following your passion is usually not easy. We all make up excuses of why not to move forward but it's worth it because it makes you happy." She goes on to say, "The fact of the matter is, for me and Dan, running a business is definitely not easy, but we wouldn't change it for the world. We know, and remind ourselves often, that if running a business was easy...everyone would do it. We took a chance and are not looking back..." This is the exact attitude that fuels a successful business. This outlook combined with a good staff and loss of sleep has brought them to where they are today.llb

If you are in the Plymouth area I encourage you to try Vela and one (or a few) of their items under $10.00. Go check out their new location ! Learn more about Vela by visiting their website You can also find them on Instagram and twitter @velajuicebar.

5 Tips for Living a Healthy Life!

Alright, alright! Welcome to the first ever "Whatever Wednesday". I am super excited to launch this new segment and I hope you are too. This week the lovely Miss Olivia Trip, Private Chef and Health and Wellness Coach gives us 5 tips on healthy living. Give it a read! Stay Sassy dolls xo

IMG_5022I get asked a lot of questions. About health.

About fitness. About weight loss….about living a healthy life. We are bombarded by tips and tricks and shortcuts from every angle. Well, heres a no-nonsense, slimmed down list of 5 things anyone can do to start living a healthier life.

We are made up of 60% water. We NEED water in order to keep our body fluids in balance. We need water for digestion, absorption, creation of saliva, protect our kidneys, help our muscles, it improves the way our skin looks…the list goes on and on. Let me tell you, if you have a headache it could be that you are dehydrated. If you have digestive issues, you could be dehydrated. If you are tired most days, you could be dehydrated. So how much water should we drink in a day? It is definitely more than the recommended 8 cups a day we have heard all of our lives. The mayo clinic recommends at LEAST 9 cups a day for women and 13 cups a day for men. The best part about drinking more water? It reduces that amount of calories you take in meaning, you could start to lose weight JUST by drinking more water.

The nutrients in fruits and vegetables literally prevent cancer they are so good. They lower your cholesterol. They keep your digestive system running. When you go to eat a meal, the LARGEST part of your plate should be covered in vegetables. When you start eating more foods the way mother nature created them, you instantly feel better. When you eat something that is full of refined sugar, you are actually hurting your body. I know, I know, we all need to “treat” ourselves now and then. We can’t be perfect all the time. I try to live by the 80/20 rule. 80% of the time, I eat healthy and unpackaged, unprocessed foods. 20% of the time I give in to temptation and might have one thing that I know isn’t good for me but maybe it is good for my soul. This is a great way to prevent yourself from going nuts and binge eating for an entire week.

30 minutes a day. If you don’t have 30 minutes a day, you need to reevaluate your life. Go for a walk, go for a run, a bike ride, do some workout dvd in your living room, take the stairs instead of the elevator, park at the far end of the parking lot, play with your kids, play with your friends kids, do WHATEVER it takes to get yourself active. This is your life we are talking about here people. Use it or lose it.

Guys, you need to sleep. You NEED 7-9 hours. Every night. This is non-negotiable. If you are one of those people who think they can function on 4 hours of sleep, you are living in a dream world. Literally. Memory problems? You might be missing out on the transfer of short-term to long-term memory that happens when we sleep. Also during sleep, we grow muscle, repair tissue, we improve our skins appearance. Beauty sleep is NO JOKE.

There are a million reasons to stay positive. Positive people live longer (not even joking, google it). You get more work done when you stay positive. Your marriages last longer when you stay positive. You have more friends. You feel better about yourself. Sometimes you do have to fake it until you make it. But approaching each day with a positive outlook will changeyour life. This, out of all of the tips is the MOST important. I hope these tips helped you see that you have the ability to live a healthier life already.
