Oshkosh Called, They want their Overalls Back

Hello, beautiful! Happy Friday! I hope this week has treated you well. I have one of my bestie's weddings this weekend & I can't wait to be able to stand next to her on her big day. The same friend inspired my to buy my first pair of overalls since my childhood. My second job in high school was as a sales associate at Oshkosh B'Gosh, you know the kids clothing store? Overalls were in high demand during my time there. Now they are one of the hottest trends for adults coming in overall skirts, pants, or shorts (pictured). Keep scrolling to see more details.

I love the overall shorts. I think they are a fun spring/summer trend. Easy for the weekend or to throw on over your bathing suit when you hit the beach for the day. This particular one piece I got from Macy's online, they literally only had once size left. My friend got hers from the GAP outlet.

For a fun yet casual look I have outfitted my overalls with a crop top, espadrille wedges, & a choker. No weekend warrior outfit is complete without a coffee in hand. In this outfit I feel like 90's grundge meets a hint of girl next door.

Maybe this trend isn't for you or maybe you want to give it a shot but are hesitant. If that is you I would suggest maybe starting out with the overall skirt. I feel like that is a smoother transition. Like dresses or jumpsuits overalls are a great throw & go instant outfit. Life can be crazy so simplicity is our friend.

Well fash dolls that concludes today's post. I hope my overall look has given you some outfit inspo. I find that it is always refreshing to go outside our outfit comfort zone. I definitely stepped out of mine with this look. Have a great weekend.

Stay Sassy & God Bless!

BFW Opening Night Party

"Every year the women of New York (or Boston) leave the past behind and look forward to the future... this is known as Fashion Week."Carrie Bradshaw Sex and the City: The Movie

September is like an unwritten New Year for the fashion industry. The Bible size magazines can be found in mailboxes & in stores. Fashion week has been completed in NYC, London, & Paris. Leaving the past season behind & looking a head to the future like our girl Carrie said. I had the pleasure of attending Boston Fashion Week's Opening Party with my coworker & friend Rebecca of The Imbeccable Blog Friday September 23rd.

The evening begun with a pomegranate cosmo provided by Wanderlush & light hor derves. Attendees mingled & had the opportunity to shop the pop up shop which included Holly Nichols illustrations, Kent Stetson handbags, & beautiful shawls from Denise Hajjar. Of course I couldn't leave empty handed. Holly Nichols & Kent Stetson launched their collaboration handbag which you can imagine is everything fabulous. One was even auctioned!

The night continued as 14 lucky attendants were live sketched by Holly Nichols herself. Cool, right?! Proceeding the sketching was a roof top Denise Hajjar fashion show. Her line exuded old school Hollywood glam. Her collection showcased different shades of red, velvet, sequins, ombré fabrics, & over the knee boots. It was a stunning show!

Nights like the Boston Fashion Week Opening party inspire me.

Wells Fash dolls I hope you enjoyed my BFW Opening Party recap & my basic iPhone pics.

Till next time! Stay Sassy + God Bless

Wedding Dress Shopping Tips

FullSizeRender Yes, I am the weirdo on the far left that had found the perfect dress for my fiancé and I's upcoming June 2016 wedding. I am accompanied by some of my lovely bridesmaids! Based on my wedding dress shopping experience here are my tips. Whether you have been dreaming of your ideal wedding since you were a little girl or are single I hope that you find these tips helpful for yourself or a friend.

When it comes to anything wedding related or making any major life purchase it is key to always do some research. I would first start by defining a budget. There is nothing worse than falling in love with something you can't afford. Next I would look to Pinterest for inspiration! Have an idea of what looks good on you and what style you are interested in. Look for particular designers you are fond of within your budget and the bridal shops that sell them.

Who Should you Bring?

Who and how many people you want to bring is entirely up to you! If you can handle a lot of different opinions open it up to your bridal party, sisters, mum, mother-in-law, and whoever else you want to bring. Maybe you would like a smaller entourage, your mum and sister(s) I feel like are always a must! It is what YOU are comfortable with, this should be a fun time.

Where Should I Go?

You remember that research you did? Use it! Set up appointments with bridal boutiques you found that carry the designers you are interested in. Maybe you want to go to "Say Yes to the Dress" NYC's salon Kleinfeld or maybe you want to stay local. It is your experience! I would suggest making at least 3 appointments with different salons. Avoid overwhelming yourself by only trying 8/10 max dresses for each appointment.

Keep an Open Mind!

Try to keep an open mind when you are shopping. I thought that I definitely needed buttons on my dress but, the gown I fell in love with didn't have buttons. Maybe you thought you had your heart set on a certain shape but, you might try another style that looks even better. You will know when you have found the dress.

Decide and Celebrate!

Say yes to the dress already! I literally found my dress at the first store that I had gone to. I went to another bridal salon after to try more and I still couldn't get my dress out of my head. Go with your gut and choose what makes you feel gorgeous! And of course don't forget to celebrate. Pop a bottle of bubbly and enjoy the fact you checked another big to do off of your list :)

I hope this helps! Till next time dolls.

Just a Few Things About the Fashion Industry

FullSizeRenderI often find myself in conversations regarding what I do. I am an assistant buyer at a women's clothing catalog and prior to that I was a manager/assistant buyer at a women's boutique. Being in the fashion industry for about 6 years here are some fun facts. It is not all glitz and glamour. You Need Degree

Just like any other field one must complete a degree to get an entry level position. There are always a handful of exceptions to this but the fashion industry is competitive and most times a degree is mandatory. By schooling I don't mean the "History of Polka Dots" class mentioned in Legally Blonde. I received my bachelor's of science in Fashion Merchandising, this included classes such as history of fashion, product development, consumer behavior-the list goes on. To be in the fashion industry you need to understand the consumer to be able to properly deliver what they desire. Heck, I wrote my senior thesis on reviving manufacturing in the USA. Try glamourizing that.

You have to do the Dirty Work to get to the TopFullSizeRender (2)

Before my promotion at the boutique I was a Sales Associate. Aside from assisting customers I had to steam boxes of clothes, clean the bathrooms, take out the trash etc.  As mentioned I then got promoted where I gained more responsibility and experience. That was when I started to go to NYC for buying trips. Now that I have graduated college and begun my new job at the catalog I find myself working up from the bottom again, making copies and entering products. This isn't a new concept, like any other field you need to gain the experience to get to the top.

FullSizeRender (1)Buying Trips are Rather Exhausting

I think buying is one of my favorite aspects of the job but these trips are rather exhausting. Picture it 3 days of work, running from showrooms to shows and making appointments. Not only are you trying to find the perfect merchandise to fit your customer base but there are a million other things you need to think about like when is the product going to come in, how much over stock do you anticipate you'll have to take a mark down on, how can you market this to your customer, what kind of promotional email should you send out, what kind of profit margin will you be able to accomplish. How about deciphering between your personal style and the consumers. By the time you get back to the hotel room your head has been spinning a million miles a minute and all you want to do is crash just to get up and do it again the following day. Then the desire to shop for yourself seems to diminish.

Sometimes you Prefer Mannequins Over PeopleFullSizeRender (3)

Don't get me wrong I have loved everyone I have worked with and for but sometimes you prefer mannequins over people. In a field mainly run by the female sex you can only imagine the issues created by estrogen. It is important to keep in mind not to take things personally and to develop a back bone real quick.

I hope you learned some things about the industry. Although I absolutely adore my job and the industry I find myself battling a lot of misconceptions. I got in this industry because I wanted to teach women to dress for themselves and their beautiful figure in turn giving them the confidence they deserve. This goal is what keeps me going. Till Saturday dolls, enjoy the rest of your week.

Scarf Staples

Looking to update your wardrobe but not trying to break the bank? Scarves are definitely a solution to your problem. Scarves range in price and are available in a wide range of styles and fabrications. Not only is there a surplus of scarves attainable by an exchange of currency but there is also a variety of ways to tie these versatile accessories. Each way to wear can elevate your ensemble and make your outfit look different. I have pictured 3 different ways to tie a scarf.

The Basic Loop

This style is the most common and simple way to tie a scarf. Drape 1/4 of the scarf and take the remaining 3/4 and wrap it around your neck and let the other end drape. An effortless and chic look!

The Vest Editors note-I am using the same scarf throughout this entire post. How cool is this vest look? And it can be accomplished by the same scarf used in the basic loop. To accomplish this look start by folding your scarf in half then tie the folded end with the ends of the scarf. This will create armholes, simple throw it on and go!

The Pretzel

This scarf tie is the most complex out of the three. Take your scarf in half then take one end and pull it thru the loop. Then take the second end and go under thru the loop. Adjust accordingly. This look is cozy and draws the attention closer to the neck. You would want to use this style when wearing a simple top.

I hope these steps help and if you have any questions feel free to email me at fashology101@gmail.com, I am happy to answer any questions. As a bride-to-be on a tight budget I know personally I have been utilizing the versatility of scarves to elevate my wardrobe. Have fun with it and happy shopping! Till next time dolls.
