Mock Neck Must Have

Happy Weekend Fash Dolls! I apologize for the little 2 week hiatus. A girl just needs a break sometimes especially in light of the election. I'm sure I'm not the only one that avoided social media this week.
Anyway let's move on to fashion! I have never been a super big turtleneck or mock neck* fan. I just felt restricted but as my personal style has grown I have learned to appreciate them & got over the restricted feeling. Turtlenecks & mock necks* have become fall/winter staple, it is a sophisticated look! I am personally loving the long sleeveless mock neck sweaters perfect for layering.

I have paired mine with some faux leather leggings. These leggings are a party in the front & business in the back as the back features a ponte knit fabrication. Completing the look are these wedge booties, scarf, & faux leather jacket. To make this more business professional the other day I swapped the faux leather jacket for a blazer for a work meeting.
Well Fash dolls I hope you were able to glean some fashion inspo. Always remember to stay true to your personal style because you are fabulous & beautiful. Till next time my friends!
Stay Sassy + God Bless!

*mock neck: is a more simple version of a turtleneck. It does not include the fold over fabric of a turtleneck.

Tasteful Tulle

It was Christmas time last year and a brunette had found herself longing for the perfect tulle skirt. She couldn't find one anywhere that had the quality and price she desired. The brown haired girl forgot about the skirt for a while until she got engaged. That brunette was me and I knew that for my engagement photos I had to get my hands on a tulle skirt. I finally found one at Tobi.

Now buying something for just one occasion isn't my style or financially responsible. I am the type of shopper that likes to get the most for my money. The outfit pictured is a tasteful way to wear tulle. I paired it with this chambray shirt, pearls, & awesome BCBG heels. I would wear this out to dinner with friends or restyle it for a holiday party. I also plan on wearing this to my bridal shower. Tulle can give off a romantic and feminine look. Give it a shot for yourself! Channel your inner Carrie Bradshaw. How ever you decide to style your tulle don't forget to always express who you are. Fashion is fun don't be afraid to try new things.

Well dolls till next time. Check out this photo of how I styled the skirt for Ricky and I's engagement shoot.WIL0089

Rules are meant to be broken!

Greetings dolls! Rules are meant to be broken, fashion rules. (I am not talking about laws or anything that will get you in some sort of trouble) One goes thru life hearing that they can't wear white after labor day, don't wear brown & black, pearls are for older women, don't wear heels with your maxi skirt, the list goes on. Well I love a good pearl and you know I'm only 5'2 so you bet I will wear heels with my maxi skirt to look taller. I am here today to invite you to break any fashion rule you want!

Working in the fashion industry for many years I've noticed that there is a very small window to sell white apparel which happens to be in the summer. Personally, I feel that this is attributed to the fashion myth that you can't wear white after Labor Day. This is horse hockey! Wearing white in the winter is very refreshing which is a breath of fresh air during the drab days. In the early spring months an all white ensemble is a feminine and whimsical look. This was actually a trend noticed on fashion week spring 2015 runways. Mix your whites with camels to exude a chic vibe!

Don't be afraid to break fashion rules. Remember that fashion is about dressing yourself to express who YOU are and to be confident while doing so. Have fun with it! Well that concludes this week's post. Be you because you are fabulous.

Lovely Leggings

Leggings have evolved throughout history. When Lycra was invented in the late 1950's leggings became popular because they were seen as a pull on and go garment which was comfortable but often looked shaggy or baggy. Leggings were seen in retail stores again due to the popularity of Flashdance and the exercise craze in the 1980's, the trend eventually faded. Making a comeback once again in the early 21st century leggings seem to be here to stay.  There has been great improvements in both fabric and design making leggings a desirable wardrobe piece by many.

One could argue that leggings are not for everyone but, when worn properly no matter your shape or size you can certainly work it! Leggings give a narrow look on the bottom which should be balanced with a flowing top. Dressing can be a balance act. When you are wearing a top with volume you should balance the bottom with a straight leg or fitted tops can find balance with a wide leg pant. Pictured is my favorite pair of leggings found in my wardrobe, I usually wear mine with tunic tops and completed with either combat boots or ballet flats.  I highly recommend that when wearing leggings the top garment should come to mid thigh covering your rear end.

Leggings have become a staple in women's wardrobe. They are very versatile because they can be dressed up or down and worn year round. I invested in the pair of leggings featured because I knew I would wear them often. If you wear leggings frequently I suggest investing in a solid pair of "go-to's" while, having a less expensive pair or two in your wardrobe. Leggings are available in a variety of colors and can have embellishments like buttons, studs, or zippers. This pair includes a sheer stripe which gives them a touch of sass. Leggings are a fashion item that everyone should have, investing in a good pair is a wise decision because they will last. They are a garment for any shape or size just make sure that your proportions are in check and that your covering your behind. Dip your toe in the fashion staple by purchasing a less expensive pair first. Whether your wearing your leggings lounging, to work, or on a date have fun and rock it!
