Tasteful Tulle

It was Christmas time last year and a brunette had found herself longing for the perfect tulle skirt. She couldn't find one anywhere that had the quality and price she desired. The brown haired girl forgot about the skirt for a while until she got engaged. That brunette was me and I knew that for my engagement photos I had to get my hands on a tulle skirt. I finally found one at Tobi.

Now buying something for just one occasion isn't my style or financially responsible. I am the type of shopper that likes to get the most for my money. The outfit pictured is a tasteful way to wear tulle. I paired it with this chambray shirt, pearls, & awesome BCBG heels. I would wear this out to dinner with friends or restyle it for a holiday party. I also plan on wearing this to my bridal shower. Tulle can give off a romantic and feminine look. Give it a shot for yourself! Channel your inner Carrie Bradshaw. How ever you decide to style your tulle don't forget to always express who you are. Fashion is fun don't be afraid to try new things.

Well dolls till next time. Check out this photo of how I styled the skirt for Ricky and I's engagement shoot.WIL0089

The Art of Accessorizing!

84778379

Hello dolls! I apologize for the hiatus. Recently I accepted a new position as an assistant buyer for a catalog company. I have been working hard learning this new job and on top of that I got engaged! It has been an exciting few weeks but I've missed my fashionistas! What better way to get back into the swing of things than with a collaboration!

The art of accessorizing is critical to any female's wardrobe. (Especially if you are on a tight budget because now you're saving for a wedding and a house. Face palm) Accessorizing can update any look without breaking the bank. I am wearing an all black ensemble to illustrate the power of jewels! (Whether they are real or costume) These chandelier earrings are absolutely stunning! The green stones are complimented with a touch of gold. When wearing statement earrings like these I suggest pulling your hair back so they will actually be seen. I am a sucker for anything anchor so this double anchor ring is a must have. The best part is that each piece is ONLY $5.00! That is right, I updated this all black look for only $10.00! Check out these pieces and many more at Clubbing Girl { www.clubbinggirl.com } ! I am a fan of fine jewelry but can't afford to stock my collection with it. Coco Chanel taught us to mix fine and costume jewelry to help enhance the apparel items in our closet. The look pictured is great for any weekend adventure and can be changed with accessories like pearls and heels which would be appropriate for a more formal occasion.

I hope that everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving with your loved ones! I know I did and I am so thankful for you, my readers. This week it was only appropriate to shoot in front of the Mayflower in Plymouth, MA. Dressing for any holiday can be stressful and we tend to find ourselves over indulging. Two obstacles that are common in holiday dressing include spending money on something you may only wear once and trying to feel fabulous after that extra slice of pie. Rarely, I find myself purchasing items I will only wear once because I try to get the most wear for my money. I constantly remind myself and clients of cost per wear meaning, that if a dress cost $50 and it is worn 10 times the item has cost you only $5 per wear. The beauty behind this shopping tactic is that you can change the look of that dress with accessories to give it a completely different ambiance. The dress pictured I have worn to Thanksgiving but, I have also worn it to work, shopping, or lunch with the girls. I have it dressed up with wedged suede booties but, can easily transform it to casual wear with a pair of flat boots, a scarf, and a tote.

Holidays usually involve drinking and eating too much which can make anyone feel bloated. Ruching is my saving grace, this is when the fabric is pleated typically flattering your midsection. This dress pleats through the waist, gathering at the side cinching in my waist. Ruching will give you the look of a thinner waist. The empire waist is also a good alternative because it comes in under the bust and flares at the bottom giving the wearer an hourglass shape. The holidays can be a crazy time, dressing for it does not have to be. Shop for holiday ensembles that you can wear more than once and make sure that you feel comfortable in them. When you don't feel comfortable in what you are wearing it does show. I always tell my customers if you don't absolutely love it don't get it. Flatter your body and be fabulous!
